º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ applied music degree showcase to take place in Stornoway
A SHOWCASE concert featuring musical talent from the University of the Highlands and Islands BA (Hons) Applied Music degree takes place at An Lanntair in Stornoway on Thursday 25 April.
featuring a multi-genre feast of music including pipes, fiddles, singer songwriters and jazz.
Students will travel from across the UK for a week of assessments at before taking part in the showcase finale. Students who chose ‘performance’ as their final project will also perform their own concerts across the week.
Graduate Chloe Steele, from South Uist, an accomplished Gaelic singer and piper, will be presented with the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Alumni of the Year 2023 award during the showcase week.

Anna-Wendy Stevenson, course leader for BA (Hons) Applied Music, said: “This residency is a highlight of the academic calendar for students and staff. It is a great opportunity to celebrate creativity and to introduce the public to emerging talent showcased in the professional and inspiring environment of An Lanntair.”

- Mark Robison performing ‘Should I play the Blues?', Tuesday 23 April, 9pm
- Rebecca Shillan performing ‘Sad Rainbow Songs’, Wednesday 24 April, 1pm
- Daniel Castro performing ‘An evening of folk music from the Celtic nations,’ Wednesday 24 April, 8pm
- Scott Cowie performing ‘The Seven Stages’, Wednesday 24 April, 9pm
- ‘For the Sound of the Sea in the Sky’ performance, a play written, produced and performed by students’ Marit Schöpel and Gracie Davie, Thursday 25 April, 1pm
- Gala Concert, Thursday 25 April. 7.30pm

The BA (Hons) Applied Music degree programme has been running for more than 10 years, receiving 100% student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for the last four consecutive years.
